Wallace B. Jefferson: Tuesday Luncheon Speaker, 2026 Annual Meeting

After the presentation of the 2001 Class Gift, incoming ALI President Wallace B. Jefferson addressed members during the luncheon honoring the Institute’s New Life Members. Reflecting on his career in public service and the legal profession, Jefferson explored themes of constitutional governance, the role of civic participation, and the enduring importance of the rule of law. Through historical accounts of post-civil War Texas and personal experiences before the U.S. Supreme Court, he illustrated how principled leadership, civic engagement, and respectful disagreement strengthen democratic institutions and advance the American legal tradition.
